Literacy and the level of education are key indicators of the level of development achieved by society. The spread of literacy is generally associated with essential features of modern society, such as development, urbanization, industrialization, connectivity and trade. Literacy is an important contribution to people’s overall development that helps people to better grasp and react to their socioeconomic, political and cultural environment Higher education and literacy lead to greater awareness and also help to improve economic and social conditions. This functions as a tool for social change and raises investment returns in almost any aspect of development efforts, from control of populations to the health sector to hygiene, environmental degradation and employment of weaker section of society.
Education is both the means and the object of a better life; is because it enables a person to make a living and raises awareness on the range of issues – from health care to adequate social behaviour to a better understanding of one’s rights and evolves as a responsible citizen. The miracle cure for all the ills that exist in life is education. Education is the nation’s backbone. India continues to face serious issues related to inadequate access, affordability, inefficiency in the education system.
In India, we can not only talk about education in urban cities, without going deep into rural education, which makes up about 90 percent of schools in rural areas. According to recent studies, education has developed in rural areas, but in some remote rural areas serious attention still needs to be paid to the fact that children are not receiving basic education.
We are committed to working for those people who are not sufficiently supported or deprived of education. We tend to work in the areas with impacts on the ground as compared to government services that usually address the needs of a vast majority with little attention given to people of civil society having no voice. Although the government is striving to respond to the need for education, in several cases, most of the children are dropouts due to several reasons. The problem is more severe as we move towards rural interiors and tribal dwellings.
